Marion Ramsey, a star of the Police Academy, has died at the age of 73.
The direction of the comic actress confirmed the news on Thursday afternoon, although no cause of death has been determined. Still, Deadline reported that he had been ill recently.
Marion was best known for playing Officer Laverne Hooks at “Police Academy.” The star’s lead role came in the 1984 hit starring Steve Guttenberg. His high-pitched voice and comic timing made his character stand out in the film.
“Police Academy” was such a huge success, as five sequels appeared over the next five years and Marion appeared in all of them.
He also appeared on the hit Broadway 1978 show “Eubie!”
Marion, who was born in Philadelphia, began her stage career just four years earlier, starring in productions of “Hello, Dolly!” Later, the animator starred alongside the legend playing Bette Davis in the musical “Miss Moffat”, which became a massive flop.
At this time, Marion went from stage to screen and landed a guest role in a 1976 episode of “The Jefferson’s.”
