UPR begins efforts to vaccinate employees of the university system

The President of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), Dr. Jorge Haddock, reported on Wednesday that the Central Administration has begun efforts to facilitate the voluntary vaccination of teaching and non-teaching employees in the university system.

“As we have done since the beginning of the emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are taking proactive measures to prevent infection among our students and workers. As a first step, and following the recommendations of the health authorities, we are beginning to identify the teaching and non-teaching staff interested in vaccination, so that we can facilitate the logistics of the vaccination process of our population.I am confident that later this management, in addition to protecting the health and safety, allow us to resume classes in face-to-face mode in the next semester that will begin in August 2021, “said Haddock, anticipating that in the premises and units will continue activities to perform tests that detect the virus.

For her part, the acting Dean of Research at the UPR Medical Sciences Campus, Dr. Carmen D. Zorrilla, stated that “it is important that staff in the university community complete the online form. This information it will help us to establish a process of vaccination, organized and by appointments, agile and in opportune coordination with the Department of Health and the National Guard in each one of the units in which the initiative will be realized “.
