American Airlines single-bottle wine offerings range from $ 13 to $ 40, and the most expensive offer is a $ 300 three-dollar champagne package.
Purchasing the $ 99 monthly subscription provides customers with access to discounted prices, a monthly shipment of three bottles of wine, and customers will get two AAdvantage miles for every dollar spent.
Bottles of wine are among those that would have been served to customers with American Airlines “Flagship” tickets, a luxury seating option on international and transcontinental flights.
The company expects its new home wine program to bring in between $ 40,000 and $ 50,000 in sales during the first three months of the year, an American Airlines spokeswoman said in an email, citing customer director Alison Taylor of the company.
But the short-term perspective of making money with bottles of wine on the ground is not the only consideration.
“While revenue is important, Flagship Cellars is more of a way to relate to customers, even when they’re not traveling with us,” a spokesman said in an email.
“It also gives them a taste of what you can enjoy at Flagship First or Flagship Business,” the spokesman said.
