A Texas married police chief was arrested Thursday for allegedly falsifying an annulment document to trick his mistress into believing they would marry soon. When he tried to verify the document, it went viral and he discovered that he was dating another woman who was not his wife.
After a series of twists suitable for a soap opera, former Stinnett police chief Jason Collier, a 41-year-old ordained minister married with four children, is accused of manipulating a government document with the intention to defraud, a crime, according to local station KACR.
The Stinnett city government had put him on administrative leave on Wednesday and his resignation came shortly after, according to several Facebook posts from city officials. He has been released from prison.
Public Security Sergeant. Cindy Barkley said in a statement, “Allegedly, Collier sent a text message to the victim with a fraudulent government record attached. The document was a fraudulent marriage annulment.” According to Collier’s former businessman, Borger’s Police Department is also an ordained minister.
The saga began when a Yellow woman named Cecily Steinmetz said it was Collier‘The mistress posted on Tuesday about her alleged engagement on Facebook. The message prompted Kristi Shaffer, another woman who said she was related to Collier, to introduce herself and reveal that the boss had also proposed to her. Collier’s Facebook page has since disappeared.
Steinmetz wrote on Facebook: “Chief Jason Collier leads a double / triple life. I was his girlfriend until yesterday. He lied to me and presented me with false cancellation documents when I found out I was married. Last night I also found out about a second girlfriend, Kristi. He lied to us, to our children, and asked us both to marry him ”.
He said he would visit her in Amarillo while he was vigilant as a police officer. To convince her that they were really about to get married, the police chief sent Steinmetz a photo of a cancellation via Instagram, according to a screenshot. When he consulted in District 108 Court, where Collier claimed he had filed it, the court had no record.
Steinmetz told KACR, “He said, ‘Well, you’ll know, I’ll get you the nullity,’ and he said, ‘Wait.’ see it “and he sent it to me. And I said to him, I said,” Well, I’m not going to take this to the fullest. “
Speaking to KACR, District 108 Judge Doug Woodburn said: “There is no coincidence with either this name or the case number. Our causes are completely different … My court is followed by the letter E. It is false. “
