It’s not the Super Bowl that anyone plans. But Verizon chief marketing officer Diego Scotti said the company tackled the game this year with the idea that this would be the “best Super Bowl of the brand,” as this year it wants to reach consumers in ways new.
The company will appear around the biggest marketing day of the year in several ways, based on its Super Bowl commercial with items like a Verizon stadium at Fortnite and a Super Bowl game night concert to give support for small businesses, with artists such as Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys. Verizon will also have a large presence with its 5G service at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, where the game will be held Sunday, with features claiming that hops will help manage security and influx (despite the limited presence of ‘this year).
“Personally I think the Super Bowl is a great platform, whatever the circumstances,” Scotti said. “Because it obviously brings people together like few events a year can create … it creates a platform for great news and engagement.”
Some other companies choose to reduce the efforts of this Super Bowl after an extraordinarily difficult year.
“We have taken the opposite approach,” he said. “It started with a time for us when two things happen: one is the evolution of our technology with 5G and the second is the much needed work right now to help advance society.”
Scotti added that many consumers are looking for some distraction.
“I think one important thing to remember is that even at times like this, we have to really think that everyone is also wanting a little bit of fun, a little bit of entertainment, a little bit of escapism,” he said. “Not to forget all the difficult things that are happening, [but to have] also a sense of hope to achieve it. And these are ways to come together as well. “
Verizon says it spent more than $ 80 million improving its network to support the Super Bowl at Raymond James Stadium and surrounding areas. But regardless of whether or not fans attend the game, the company also created a “5G SuperStadium” in the NFL’s mobile app so some iPhone users can view the game from different angles. The company also has a free “Watch Together” mode in the Yahoo Sports app so people can watch and chat with their friends and family.
Fortnite’s creative mode “Verizon 5G Stadium” is another piece of the plan, which will allow you to compete for prizes and interact with NFL players and professional players in football-inspired games.
The company is also starting an effort to help small businesses with its “Great Small Business Concert”. The show begins after the Super Bowl at 11pm ET and will be led by Tiffany Haddish with performances by Alicia Keys, Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Jazmine Sullivan, HER and Brittany Howard. The concert will air online on numerous sites, including YouTube, Twitter and TikTok, and will be broadcast via BET, CBS Sports Network and other channels. The event will have people texting to donate to a nonprofit that supports small businesses.
In addition, Verizon will donate $ 10 million to the Nonprofit Local Initiative Support Corporation, which will help provide financial support to businesses. It is also committed to helping one million companies by 2030 with digital tools and support.
“We also had to use the Super Bowl as a platform to impact the community and society in a bigger way,” Scotti said. “Without a doubt, one of the areas most affected by what is happening is small businesses.”
And then the company will have its place in the game, which still keeps the mother. Scotti would just say “it will be amazing.”
