The Capitol anti-riot defendant, named QAnon Shaman, has a new, hornless appearance in this new cup.
The famous shaman, whose real name is Jacob Chansley, is virtually unrecognizable without the hairy headdress, horns, and face paint in the prison photo posted by officials in Alexandria, Va.
According to Law and Crime, which posted the photo, it is difficult to get shots from federal inmates.
In 2016, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that suspects can assert privacy interests when booking photos. Most judges in this case ruled that the cup shots “transmit guilt” and “persecute the person represented for decades,” the media reported.
However, as in the case of Chansley, federal inmates are sometimes housed by state or local law enforcement agencies, who can post the images according to the underlying state legislation.
On Thursday, Chansley was transferred to Virginia prison after a federal judge ordered authorities to provide him with organic food while in custody.
He was taken to the Alexandria Detention Center after his lawyer argued that his client had spent nine days without food because no organic food was served in the DC prison.
A judge ordered officials of the corrections to provide the special diet, which attorney Albert Watkins said is part of his “shamanic belief system and way of life.”
Chansley has lost 20 pounds since he was transferred from Arizona to Washington last week, Watkins told the judge.
On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth said the U.S. Marshals Service told the court that the District of Columbia Corrections Department had requested the removal of Chansley because they could not comply with the order of the court to feed him organic food.
Chansley was charged with civil disorder, obstruction, disorderly conduct and other charges for his role in the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol.
He was part of a group of hundreds of pro-Trump supporters who charged against police and stormed the building as Congress rallied to vote to certify Joe Biden’s election victory.
