Find the nearest test location for Covid-19 with Amazon Alexa

You can ask Alexa to find the nearest place to do a Covid-19 test.

Amazon has recently added a new feature to its Alexa voice assistant that allows you to find the nearest place to do a Covid-19 test.

It works on phones and through the Amazon Echo smart speaker. I think it’s best on a phone or on a screen echo, as it shows you a list of nearby locations and how far each location is. This is what you do.

  • Open the Alexa app on your phone.
  • Tap the “Tap to talk to Alexa” button at the top.
  • Say, “Where can I take the Covid-19 test?”

Alexa will return a list of nearby sites using data extracted from GISCorps and other sources, such as Yelp. In my case, it showed eight places less than ten miles from me. If you tap a location, you’ll see a phone number you can call to confirm that appointments are available, if needed.

If you use an echo that doesn’t show each location, just say “Alexa, call first” to call the recommended test location.
