A team of fans has managed to do a reverse wit of the source code for both Grand Theft Auto III i Grand Theft Auto Vice City, making the files available for download.

This is great news. We recently saw what reverse engineering games can mean for modders, with Mario 64 being the greatest example, allowing it to be “ported” to the PC instead of running it by emulation.

While this is not the key goal, both GTA the games are now available on the computer; the source code also allows modders to create potentially new and interesting things. Like, using Mario 64 as an example again, adding ray tracing to the game.

That said, access to the source code causes portability to be performed others easier platforms, and the computer has already had the code running on Switch, Vita and Wii U, though it also expects it to arrive on PS2 and Xbox.
