Finally, you can sort the music in the playlist of songs I like on Spotify.

Playing on the Liked Songs playlist on Spotify has always been a little disconcerting to me; I never know if I’ll get Steely Dan or Phoebe Bridgers or Ginuwine’s “Pony”. If that sounds like you (maybe without “Pony,” but this is your business), Spotify mercifully it began to unfold current mood and gender filters for free and premium accounts.

Spotify says that for anyone with at least 30 songs on their Favorite Songs playlist, they can filter their music with up to 15 custom genre and mood categories. However, these mood and genre filters are based on the music in your playlist. This means that if you change the playlist by adding or removing titles, you can also change the mood and genre filters.

To enable the feature, go to Your library and select Songs I liked. Below the “Add songs” button, but above the actual playlist, you should see additional bubbles showing your mood and gender filters. To filter by a specific category, select the bubble. To turn it off, click on the “X” next to it. In the Spotify feature demo, some of the filters included things like chill, indie, electronica, rap and folk.

Don’t be alarmed if you don’t see the feature right away. Spotify said it will hit iOS and Android in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia “over the next few weeks,” so stay tuned.
