Trump’s golden statue at the CPAC ridiculed online

A golden statue of the ex President TrumpDonald Trump, Jr., says Bruce Springsteen’s retired charges are “liberal privilege.” Schiff sees challenges for the intellectual committee. The community in the shadow of Trump McConnell says he would support Trump as a candidate for the GOP 2024 MORE was unveiled Thursday afternoonthe Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, Florida, quickly provoked ridicule from social media users, many of whom compared it to the Old Testament account of the golden calf.

The video showed the statue unfolding through the corridors of the annual rights conference. The structure includes a golden figure of Trump wearing a suit jacket and a red tie, paired with shorts and American flag flip flops.

Several people stopped to pose with the statue, with one woman saying, “Amazing” and another person commenting, “It’s great.” Then you can hear another person in the video who starts singing “four more years.”

Despite the praise from attendees, social media users argued that the statue showed the unhealthy obsession of some conservatives with Trump, with a Twitter user jokingly writing:I asked the CPAC if they were afraid to offend God with a golden statue of Trump and they told me “Trump is God.”

Others, including the founder and director of the University of Virginia Policy Center, Larry Sabato, connected the statue to the book of Exodus.

In Old Testament history, the golden calf was worshiped by the Israelites in the absence of Moses as he ascended Mount Sinai. In the Bible, God punished those who worshiped the golden structure instead of him, destroying the calf and killing about 3,000 people.

Al Cardenas, a former president of the American Conservative Union (ACU), tagged the organization in a Twitter post sharing the video Friday morning, writing, “It’s over. Worshiping the accused in gold “.

Trump is expected to speak at the CPAC on Sunday, marking his first public appearance since he left office and after the Senate acquitted him in his second indictment.

He is expected to go on the offensive against President Biden in his speech, as well as hinting at (but not announcing) a 2024 presidential candidacy.

The conference will also serve as an opportunity for other GOP 2024 aspirants to appeal to party members. It includes the list of other speakers that many also consider possible candidates for the White House Governors.
