NEW YORK (AP): It’s a promotion that could come straight from Don Draper’s playbook “Mad Men.”

Brooklyn’s famous Peter Luger Steak House has teamed up with Madame Tussauds to make celebrity wax figures that blend in with their patterns, promoting relief from coronavirus pandemic restrictions on New York City’s indoor kitchen York.

A Jon Hamm wax bar, known for his portrayal of Draper, the advertising executive for the hit TV series, could be found Friday at the restaurant bar with a cocktail in hand. Other data provided by Madame Tussauds are Michael Strahan, Jimmy Fallon, Al Roker and Audrey Hepburn to Holly Golightly in the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” mode.

Peter Luger “thought it would be a fun and safe way to fill some of the seats that should remain empty as we continue to fight the pandemic,” said restaurant vice president Daniel Turtel.

As of Friday, the city’s restaurants were allowed to fill 35% of the interior seats, up from 25% previously.

Peter Luger, who has been working for more than 130 years, will keep the mannequins until Monday. They will then return to the newly reopened Madame Tussauds in midtown Manhattan.
