Who is this hand?
That was the question in the minds of viewers as they watched the 2021 Golden Globes when a mysterious double hand of Tina Fey, who was in New York, came across the split screen to pet Amy Poehler, parked in Los Angeles, during the opening monologue.
“I wanted to add an arm model to my resume !!!” makeup artist Molly R. Stern wrote on Instagram, revealing herself as the mystical arm.
“When Amy Poehler and Tina Fey ask you to take part in their monologue @goldenglobes, you’re sure to force it. #ArmModelForHire, ”he added.
Stern, who also did Poehler’s makeup for the ceremony, was part of a joke in the monologue as the hosts scoffed at the show’s first two-legged event.
During the broadcast, the couple appeared on a split screen and Fey, 50, said that “the technology is so great you can never tell the difference” – and proclaimed to caress Poehler, 49, through the dual screen .
“He won’t even notice,” Fey said as Stern, who was off-camera, stroked Poehler’s hair in Tina’s name. “I always knew my career would end with me walking around the Rainbow Room pretending to talk to Amy.”
The little magic of television had Twitter in its arms as they tried guess who the limb belonged to.
“It looks like that person was an official member of the arm models union,” he made a joke.
Stern has been in the show business for quite some time, having worked in the makeup department in 1996 on “Swingers.” Most recently, she was Reese Witherspoon’s makeup artist for “Big Little Lies,” according to IMDb, along with countless celebrities who were seen on their Instagram page.
So give it a hand.
