MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Several shots of saline were mistakenly administered in a Kroger in Central Virginia to people who thought they were receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.
CBS 6 Problem Solvers asked a spokesman about a reported error at the Midlothian location on the 14101 Midlothian Turnpike.
Allison McGee, Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic corporate affairs manager, said one of Kroger’s “The Little Clinic” teams administered saline shots instead of the COVID-19 vaccine as an “honest mistake.”
“This was addressed immediately with the FTA team and all vaccinators were recycled and reminded of our current vaccination policies,” McGee said.
Kroger did not clarify exactly how many people were affected, but told CBS 6 that it was a “small number of individuals.”
“All affected customers were contacted and have now received the COVID-19 vaccine,” McGee said in a statement. “We apologize for this oversight and the inconvenience caused by these customers.”
WTVR CBS 6 asked Kroger how an error like this happened, but we received no answer to that question.
