Joel Embiid, star of the Philadelphia 76ers, has a bone contusion in his left knee and could miss two weeks, sources told ESPN.

An MRI overnight revealed no structural damage to the knee that Embiid hyperextended in a win against the Washington Wizards Friday night, sources said. Embiid underwent MRI immediately after returning to Philadelphia Friday night, sources said.

The LCA and Embiid meniscus are fine, sources said, and there is significant relief in the Sixers that the injury is not much worse.

Embiid left the game on Friday night when he hyperextended his left knee after landing with all his weight on his leg after a fall in the third quarter.

Embiid was in the middle of the last dominant performance of his MVP caliber season, scoring 23 points in the 8-on-11 throw with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks in 20 minutes, when he caught a pass from Tobias. Harris flew to the court to give Philadelphia an 80-60 lead with 6 minutes left, 20 seconds left in the third quarter.

But when Embiid fell after the collapse, all his body weight landed on that left leg, causing hyperextension, causing him to fall on the court and twisting in pain.

After remaining a few minutes low, Embiid finally got to his feet and marched under his own power, though with a rather pronounced lameness, as he returned directly to the visitors ’locker room in Washington’s One Arena capital.

Embiid had a similar fear situation last month when he hyperextended his right knee in an awkward fall against the Portland Trail Blazers after blocking an Enes Kanter roster. In that game, Embiid came back a few minutes later and dominated, scoring 31 points in the first half in a clash that eventually lost Philadelphia.

The Sixers had just recaptured the Embiid on Friday night after he and Ben Simmons missed Thursday’s victory in Chicago over the Bulls, as well as Sunday’s All-Star Game in Atlanta, due to the contact lineup. a barber visited by the two stars before heading to Atlanta.
