Dirirlan Hernandez’s dream of emigrating with his son to the United States shattered. After a long journey from Honduras he managed to cross the border, but explains that he was arrested and deported to Mexico under deception.
Cases like this are multiplying in the Mexican city of Ciudad Juárez (north), where more than 300 undocumented migrants have been returned this week alone, despite the flexibility of some policies by US President Joe Biden.
After spending two days detained in McAllen, Texas, alongside his three-year-old son, a U.S. agent told Dirlan, 30, that he would be transferred to Miami.
Hours later he noticed that the place where they were left, more than 1,000 km from McAllen, was not tropical Florida, but the deserted Chihuahua in Mexico.
‘When I looked at the flag of Mexico and looked at where Ciudad Juárez was saying, I realized. I didn’t think they were going to throw us here like nothing, ‘says the man, who broke down in tears in the middle of the border bridge.
