Nothing against Windows 10, but meIf you want to simplify it a bit by treating it with Chromebook – modify various settings and UI elements to make them a little easier to treat or just integrate some of the most useful features of a Chromebook directly in Windows 10 itself; to give you any grief. It’s your PC, You can do whatever you want with it.
Michael Perrigo came to Unpacked Chrome has a great guide to bringing the best of the Chrome OS experience to Windows 10. I won’t steal your thunder by reviewing it all, but I did want to draw your attention to a handful of apps we recommend you install · Leu. , regardless of feelings towards Google’s operating system. Some of these are Michael’s suggestions, and others they are the ones I stumbled upon.
Chrometana Pro i EdgeDeflector
You want to take this combination of a Chrome extension and a Windows 10 app to redirect your Start menu searches to Google instead of Bing. (Nothing against the Microsoft search engine; although we’ve always had a better experience with Google a friolera zero rewards to use it.)
Usee the extension to redirect all Bing and Cortana searches to Google (in the browser). You can then install EdgeDeflector to redirect Windows 10 every time you try to open a website in Edge or Edge Chromium instead of Chrome. It actually diverts these requests to what you’ve set as the default browser in Windows 10, so make sure you’ve set it correctly.
Finally, you can be sure to open Windows searches in EdgeDeflector, instead of a browser. You should see one popping up the next time you click a web result from a search in the Start menu.
G / O Media may receive a commission
If you prefer to redirect these searches to Mozilla’s Firefox browser, you’ll want to use the same name Foxtana Pro extension instead of Chrometana Pro.
Twinkle tray
This is easy: Install this little utility from the Windows Store and you can control the brightness level of any DDC / CI-compliant monitor directly from a tray icon. You will never have to bother with the annoying monitor buttons again.
TaskbarX
Second verse, like the first: This application takes all your files taskbar icons aligned left and centered, and andYou can make the entire taskbar transparent to give Chrome OS a bigger look. (And if so all you want, without centered icons, to give TranslucentTB an attempt.)
Windows 10 Auto Dark Mode / Moon
Both applications do basically the same thing: They give you the (much-needed) option to schedule times for light and dark mode on your Windows 10 system. I guess you can do that with the Task Scheduler, too, but it’s a lot more work.
WinDynamicDesktop
This useful utility borrows a macOS page, not Chrome OS, to give you the ability to set dynamic wallpapers that change based on the time of day. Maybe you want something a little darker in the morning, followed by a brighter wallpaper at lunchtime. Whatever your preference, having a little extra pizzazz for your Windows wallpaper never hurts.
