According to reports, the production of MacBook and iPad has been affected by the shortage of electronic components.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday that the ongoing global chip shortage it has now reached Apple, with some iPads and MacBooks affected. Nikkei Asia reported that some iPad components were affected by the shortage of display components, while MacBook production has been delayed due to chip shortages, a problem that has been affected major manufacturers such as Tesla, GM and Samsung.

Apple did not immediately return any requests for comments on the report.

Nikkei Asia reported that Apple has delayed some of its component orders for affected devices from the first half of 2021 until the end of the year as a result of the ongoing problem. But Apple is certainly not the only one affected by the shortage of chips. And some estimates see that the problem continues until 2022, including the Apple provider Foxconn.

Samsung, for example, is another major manufacturer affected by the shortage of chips, with co-CEO Koh Dong-jin saying during a recent shareholders ’meeting, that there was“ a serious imbalance in the supply and demand of chips in the global IT sector ”.

Meanwhile, General Motors stops the production of two of its plants as a result of the shortage of global components, the Free Detroit Press reported Thursday. General Motors spokesman David Barnas told the newspaper that “the company’s intention is to recover the largest amount of lost production at these plants.”

In other words, everyone is feeling the chip break right now. Even the most powerful manufacturer on the planet is not immune to component shortages.
