“Danger!” is ending its 37th season with an explosion.
The full-length program announced its last guests invited to finish last season on Wednesday. LeVar Burton, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, David Faber (who was a former “Celebrity Jeopardy!” Champion) and Joe Buck are among the stars chosen to host the popular trivia game.
Burton has already expressed his deep enthusiasm for hosting the show and taking the reins of the late great Alex Trebek.
The host of “Reading Rainbow”, 64, sprang above his new concert Twitter, writing: “THANK YOU … to all and sundry for your passionate support! I am happy, excited and eager to be a guest of Jeopardy !, and I will do my best to live up to your faith in me. YOU HAVE DONE A DIFFERENCE! Go ahead and take my word, this time ”.
Earlier this month, Burton tweeted about a fan-initiated campaign to make it a permanent “danger.” host.
“Leaving this here in case the powers that be listen,” the “Roots” actor said he tweeted next to a request. As of today, the document has garnered more than 250,000 signatures.
Burton recently appeared on the USA TODAY podcast “The Mothership” and talked more about his desire to host the contest. “That’s something I really think is a good idea,” he said. “I think it’s a good fit of what the program is, what the program requires and what I feel like bringing to the table. I am as strong with my reason for this as I am with Kunta and Geordi. And I’m so invested in getting the job done. “
Burton added that he feels he wants to do “justice to Alex’s legacy.” Trebek died in November 2019 from pancreatic cancer at the age of 80. The show paid tribute to the legendary host’s legendary career in January.
After Trebek’s death, ABC News journalist George Stephanopoulos was allegedly pushing for the concert, among other candidates, and putting his name “actively” in the ring.
“Danger!” Executive producer Mike Richards released a statement on Wednesday about the large number of famous new hosts. “Our goal has been to present a wide variety of guest hosts with different skills and backgrounds on our path to finding a permanent host,” Richards said. “Our passionate fans tell us what they like and we listen. All the guest guests have contributed individualism, energy and a real love for our program to each of their episodes. We look forward to sharing the rest of the season with our viewers. “
In addition to the appearance of each guest host, a donation will be made to a charity of their choice. The amount awarded will match the accumulated winnings of the contestants competing during the week.
Last season, the 37 guest guests included Anderson Cooper, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Savannah Guthrie, Katie Couric and Aaron Rodgers.
