August 20 (Reuters) – Dallas Federal Reserve Chairman Robert Kaplan said Friday that he was closely monitoring any economic impact of the Delta variant of the coronavirus and perhaps should adjust his views on the policy “a bit “in case it materially slows economic growth.
“It’s developing fast,” Kaplan told Fox Business Network. Kaplan has said earlier that he would like the Fed to start reducing its asset purchases in October.
“So far it has no material effect” on consumer activity, such as eating out, ”he said, but“ it is having an effect on delaying the return to work, it is affecting the ability to hire workers for fear of infection “and may have affected production output, he said.
