Kendrick Lamar is back with his first solo project since the 2017 Grammy Awards MALEÏT. In his new and currently only Instagram post, he share a website where he has written a letter about what he calls his “TDE final album”, archived in the singular folder entitled “Nu Thoughts”. TDE refers to the Top Dawg Entertainment record label, under which the Compton rapper was first signed as a teenager.
“I spend most of my days with fleeting thoughts. Write. To listen. And picking up old beach cruises. The morning walks keep me on a hill of silence.
I spend months without a phone.
Love, loss, and pain have disturbed my comfort zone, but God’s flashes speak through my music and my family.
As the world around me evolves, I reflect on what matters most. The life in which my words will land next.
When I produced my last TDE album, I feel happy to have been a part of that cultural footprint after 17 years. The struggles. Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for sincere creators. As I continue to pursue the vocation of my life.
There is beauty at the end. And always faith in the unknown.
Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I have prayed for all of you.
See you soon “.
