When we get into the latest (hopefully) stretch of rumors about the iPhone 13 ahead of Apple’s event in September, it looks like the update may cost more than usual.
In accordance with DigiTimes (via MacRumors), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TMSC) —one of the the best chip makers in the world and an Apple supplier, plans to increase production costs by up to 20%. These changes are expected to arrive in January 2022. DigiTimes claims that Apple, TMSC’s largest customer, will see price rises of 3-5% as a result.
But, you say, in a few months! Why would this affect the price of iPhones that are likely to near the end of production and will soon be revealed to the world at large? The report states that it is this millennial reason to pass the cost on to consumers to protect profitability, just habitual capitalism.
While this is definitely possible, we’ll have to see if this price hike spreads evenly across the entire iPhone 13 range or if they will only fit into the high-end Pro models.
This year, we expect to see four models of the iPhone 13, including the latest hurray of the iPhone Mini. They are expected to have phones larger batteries, smaller notches, i several camera updates such as a portrait video mode, ProRes, and more auto-filter options. Other aspects to keep in mind are the 120Hz refresh rates of the screens and a faster A15 processor. That said, the iPhone 13 is expected to be more of an incremental upgrade than a radical overhaul. An iPhone 12S, as they might have called it in the past.

Regarding When we will see these more expensive phones, the latest theory is that the iPhone 13 will be gor on sale Sept. 17. Some other devices we could see released alongside the iPhone are the Apple Watch Series 7, the AirPods 3 and perhaps a new iPad Mini. And while previously we had all hoped this fall would look fair a Apple event, it looks like we are in another season of several launch events. Right now it looks like a second possible launch event will focus around the MacBooks M1X and a luxury Mac Mini.
