And finally, the multi-instrumental phenomenon has realized his dream of playing on stage with his musical hero.
On Thursday, finishing the band’s live performance at The Forum in Inglewood, California, 11-year-old Nandi Bushell played drums during their 1997 hit, “Everlong.”
“It happened! It was #EPIC !!! Thank you so much @foofighters !!! I had the best night with you at @TheForum! Thank you so much Mr. Grohl and Taylor!” Nandi tweeted.
The musicians, separated by decades of age and experience, have repeatedly fought in line with the drums.
It was during that conversation that he received an invitation to play with the band one day on stage.
“But it has to be at the end of the set, because you’re going to steal the show,” Grohl told Nandi, who was then ten years old.
He agreed emphatically.
“I can’t believe he’s talking to you. I feel like I’m meeting a Beatle,” Grohl said. “Have you been playing the drums a lot?”
“A lot,” Nandi replied.
“I didn’t. I stopped playing the drums because I realized I would never be as good as you, so I stopped playing the drums,” he said.
“Well, just practice, practice, practice,” Nandi advised.
Nandi told Grohl that he started playing drums with his father when he was 5 years old.
“Then, I was too good for him,” she told Grohl, so they got a teacher right for her.
Nandi, who comes from the UK, also plays bass, guitar and piano.
