Britney Spears’ lawyer accuses her father of trying to extort millions from her conservative state

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Britney Spears and her new lawyer say her father is trying to get about $ 2 million in payments before leaving the Conservative who controls his life and money, a move they compare to extortion in a court filing Tuesday.

The paper presented by lawyer Mathew Rosengart says the conservatory’s next scheduled accounting, which James Spears says he wants to finish before leaving office, will mean significant payments for him.

“Britney Spears will not be extorted,” the presentation says. “Mr. Spears ‘blatant attempt to change the suspension and removal in exchange for approximately $ 2 million in payments, in addition to the millions already obtained from Mrs. Spears’ property by Mr. Spears and his associates, is not a principles ”.

A James Spears representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The filing is a supplement to Rosengart’s July petition on behalf of Britney Spears for the removal and suspension of James Spears, which will be discussed at a Sept. 29 hearing.

In his response, James Spears revealed that he already planned to leave his daughter’s conservatory, which he has controlled at least in part since it was established in 2008.

But James Spears offered no timetable for his departure, saying he would only arrive after resolving several persistent problems, including the following accounting.

James Spears said he would fight any attempt to force him, that there was no reason to do so and that he has always only acted in the interest of his daughter.

Rosengart’s latest presentation argues that while there are many misconduct to deal with, it is still not the problem.

“The only question before the Court (which, unfortunately, has been lost for years) is whether Mr. Spears ‘speedy suspension and removal are in Britney Spears’ best interest,” the file says. , who later adds that “the unequivocal answer is yes.”

Since 2019, James Spears has only controlled his daughter’s finances, after leaving the direction of her personal life.

However, she was the target of much of her daughter’s anger in a couple of court speeches in June and July, in which she called the Conservative “abusive”. Spears said she had been forced to use an intrauterine device to monitor the birth rate, take medication against her will and prevent her from marrying, having another child or even going to her boyfriend’s car without supervision.

“This conservatory hurts me a lot more than good,” Spears, then 39, said. “I deserve to have a life.”

In an unrelated case, Ventura County authorities are investigating a complaint of non-violence by a member of her home staff who said Britney Spears hit her.

Rosengart described the incident as “fabricated,” he said, “referring to a cell phone, with no blows and obviously no injuries.”
