Kate Walsh, who plays Addison Forbes Montgomery in the “Grey’s Anatomy” universe, will have to scrub once again, ABC has confirmed to CNN. According to TVLine, Walsh will appear in several episodes of the new season.
“I’m very excited to be home again,” Walsh said in a video announcing his return.
Walsh joined “Grey’s Anatomy” the first season, in a memorable finale that introduced the main character Meredith Gray (Ellen Pompeo) to the wife of his love interest, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).
A neonatal surgeon, Addison became a “Grey’s Anatomy” apparatus until he stopped starring in a spin-off, “Private Practice.” That program lasted six seasons between 2007 and 2013.
Last season of “Grey’s Anatomy” included outstanding performances from beloved (and fictitiously missing) former cast members such as TR Knight, Eric Dane, Chyler Leigh and Dempsey. His appearances were related to the experience of Meredith’s death while fighting a serious Covid case.
The new season of “Grey’s Anatomy” will premiere on September 30 on ABC.
