A batch of fentanyl-bound cocaine killed one comic and two more, leaving Darius Rucker’s ex-girlfriend in a Los Angeles hospital, according to a report.
Fuquan Johnson, writer of “Comedy Parlor Live,” died Friday night after an overdose at a home in Venice, according to TMZ. Two more victims were pronounced dead at the scene, the media reported.
Comedian Kate Quigley, who lives next door to the house and recently went out with the Hootie & the Blowfish singer, was hospitalized in critical condition, according to the report.
The coroner will officially determine what killed Johnson, 42, and the other unnamed victims, but sources say the four people ingested cake contaminated with the super-powerful opioid.
Fentanyl, a synthetic analgesic 100 times more potent than heroin, has been a factor in the deaths of Prince, Mac Miller and Tom Petty.
In 2019, fentanyl accounted for more than two-thirds of all drug overdoses in New York City, according to the data. Social media users have been warning of contaminated coke that goes around the city party this spring and summer.
