“Tiger King” Zoo keeper Erik Cowie was found dead in Brooklyn apartment

EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (WABC) – A Netflix “Tiger King” series zoo keeper was found dead inside an apartment in Brooklyn.

Police say they found 52-year-old Erik Cowie unconscious last Friday in the bedroom of a house on East 55th Street in East Flatbush.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cowie appeared on the Netflix show last year as one of the tiger caretakers at the man-led zoo called Joe Exotic. His real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage.

Maldonado-Passage was convicted of attempted murder and violation of the Endangered Species Act.

Cowie testified against him at that trial.

The autopsy will determine the cause of Cowie’s death.
