The Taliban allow 200 Americans and other civilians to leave Afghanistan, a U.S. official

September 9 (Reuters) – Taliban authorities agree that 200 US civilians and third-country nationals who remained in Afghanistan after the end of the US evacuation operation will board charter flights from Afghanistan airport. Kabul, an American official said.

U.S. Special Representatives Zalmay Khalilzad pressured the Taliban to allow exits, the official, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said.

Departures were expected Thursday. The official could not say whether these Americans and third-country nationals were people trapped for days in Mazar-i-Sharif because they were not allowed to leave their private letters.
