‘The Bodyguard’, by Whitney Houston, is slated for a remake

According to Variety, the iconic 1992 blockbuster “The Bodyguard,” starring the late Whitney Houston, is slated for a remake.

Matthew Lopez, nominated for Tony in 2019 for his Broadway play “The Heritance,” is working on the new version of the classic film for Warner Bros. A project that some angry Houston fans are already declaring a “trolling” movement.

“The Bodyguard,” which also starred Kevin Costner, 66, was an instant hit when it premiered nearly 30 years ago. The film, about a former secret service agent who falls in love with a diva singer who has been hired to protect himself from a bully, amassed more than $ 400 million at the world box office.

And Houston devotees aren’t happy with the remake, as many have turned to Twitter to express their frustration with a new Hollywood remake.

“Are they redoing the bodyguard? why does everything need a remake? ” he added another, with a Houston meme.
