Asked what he says about the American justice system, Constand told NBC News’ Kate Snow, “It’s flawed.”
“I’ve come too far to go back to this place, to wonder if it’s worth it, or to regret it,” Constand explained. “It was worth it. But it was worth it because I didn’t feel alone. I had a whole community, a whole army of women and other survivors, strangers, family, friends who were right there with me.”
“Bill Cosby walks free, but it doesn’t change the fact that my testimony was believed,” Constand added.
The sentence was overturned
A group of Pennsylvania State Supreme Court judges said that in their view, the decision of a former Montgomery County District Attorney not to prosecute Cosby in 2005 in exchange for his deposition in a case civil was finally used against him in the trial.
“How can a district attorney enforce a decision on a handshake in the back?” Constand asked. “How can you give credibility to that?”
Constand called Cosby’s celebration “disgusting” after his release, adding that “it didn’t surprise me, given the level of arrogance, and not having remorse during the time he was imprisoned, absolutely zero remorse for it. he made me”.
“He’s a violent sexual predator who basically got out of jail.”
Cosby’s representatives declined to comment on Constand’s interview.
“It’s disappointing to hear someone who is in such a powerful position for not supporting survivors,” Constand said.
“Okay. I’m very happy to hear that,” Constand said, reacting to the tweet read by the anchor.
Asked if she would ever agree to talk to Rashad if the actress wanted to learn more about her, Constand offered, “Sure, yes, why not?”
Telling his story
Constand spoke about her new book, entitled “The Moment: Standing Up to Bill Cosby, Speaking for Women.”
“I had a story to tell, but also, it was what would bring me a real cure.”
Asked how he would feel if he started acting again, Constand said, “I don’t really care, but anyone who gives you a platform to talk, make a joke; raping is not a joke.”
His message to the survivors: “While I’m here, I want to send a message so as not to let this deter you from presenting yourself, from getting the peace, healing, and closure you need.”
“I will fight. I will be a voice for the change that is needed, whatever the country, state and place where it is needed. I will be there to fight,” Constand said.
More of his interview is scheduled to air on “NBC Nightly News” on Tuesday. Snow said it would involve a discussion about Cosby’s wife, Camille.
