Angelina Jolie definitely uses her social media platform. The “Eternals” star created an Instagram account on Friday to share a powerful letter she received from a teenager in Afghanistan. voices of people around the world fighting for their basic human rights.

Jolie, 46, has gained 1.8 million followers since joining and her first post showed a handwritten note of the teen. “This is a letter a teenage girl sent me to Afghanistan,” the Jolie legend said. “Right now, the people of Afghanistan are losing their ability to communicate on social media and express themselves freely.”

The humanitarian group continued, “So I came to Instagram to share their stories and the voices of those people around the world who are fighting for their basic human rights.”

Jolie explained that she was on the border with Afghanistan two weeks before 9/11, where she met Afghan refugees who had fled the Taliban.

“It is unpleasant to see Afghans displaced again by the fear and uncertainty that have gripped their country,” he wrote. “Spending so much time and money, shedding blood and losing lives just to get to that, is an almost impossible failure to understand.”
