Britney Spears’ lawyers say father Jamie Spears is trying to “extort” her with a $ 2 million request to resign

Britney Spears’ lawyers said she was being “extorted” by her father, Jamie Spears, as she prepared to step down as Conservative, TMZ reported Tuesday.

The singers ’legal team, 39, filed court documents alleging Jamie’s legal team is requesting about $ 2 million before he is willing to step down.

Although part of the fee would go to cover his legal expenses and pay for his daughter’s business manager, Tri Star, presumably a large chunk would go directly to him.

Britney’s lawyers say she is unwilling to step down until she has received the money.

“The status quo is no longer tolerable and Britney Spears will not be extorted,” Toxic singer Matt Rosengart’s lawyer wrote in his presentation.

The performer and his team are urging his father to step down as curator immediately instead of continuing to chart the process, which was first reported earlier this month.

If Jamie doesn’t resign soon, they argue he should be retired as a Conservative on Sept. 29.

In the filing, Britney’s attorneys urge her father to step down as soon as possible for the sake of her daughter’s “well-being.”

“The world heard the brave and convincing testimony of Mrs. Spears,” they wrote. Britney Spears ’life is important. Your well-being is important. Every day matters. There is no basis for waiting. “

In a statement to TMZ, Rosengart claimed his client was being “held hostage” by Jamie and his delays in resigning.

‘Britney Spears will not be harassed or extorted by her father. Nor does Mr Spears have the right to try to hold his daughter hostage by setting the terms of his removal, “he said. he, it is in the best interests of his daughter, which, by law, compels her removal. “

He added that Jamie should leave the post because it was the moral thing to do, not just because it was legally appropriate.

Even leaving aside the legal issues that require her speedy retirement, if she loves her daughter, Mr. Spears should resign now, today, before he is suspended. That would be right and decent, “Rosengart said.

Earlier this month, DailyMail.com confirmed that the judge overseeing Britney’s conservatory had denied her legal team’s request for Jamie to leave his position immediately.

The next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29, when his attorneys hope Judge Penny will remove Jamie if he doesn’t leave office before then.

At the previous hearing, Jamie’s lawyers argued that “there was no reason whatsoever” to make him resign immediately.

They also described her daughter as “mentally ill.”

Britney’s allegations at the June and July hearings, including “serious allegations of forced medical treatment and therapy, inadequate medical care and limitations on personal rights,” appear to have prompted Rosengart’s call for her father’s withdrawal.

Jamie’s lawyers called the claims “unproven” and said they involve issues that have been Montgomery’s responsibility for a long time, not his own.

Jamie said the call for his quick retirement was “ironic” in light of a call he claimed to have received from Jodi Montgomery, who is temporarily overseeing decisions about the singer’s life, on July 9th.

‘Ms. Montgomery looked very distressed and expressed concern about my daughters ’recent behavior and general mental health,” Jamie said in a personal statement included in his court filing.

Montgomery later claimed the call had been misrepresented and said Jamie’s termination would be beneficial to Britney’s mental health.

Successful producer Baby One More Time, 39, has remained under guardianship for 13 years after its commercial release, which led fans to launch the #FreeBritney movement to support her struggle to have autonomy over their finances.
