Britt Reid is no longer employed by Kansas City bosses, according to reports

Reid, son of head coach Andy Reid, was put on administrative leave after being involved in a multiple vehicle accident last Thursday. The accident left a 5-year-old girl in critical condition with a brain injury.
League sources told ESPN and the NFL Network that the 35-year-old’s contract expired after the team’s loss to Super Bowl LV on Sunday.

Kansas City officials did not respond to a request for comment from CNN.

In a statement on Tuesday, the chiefs said they were in the process of gathering information about the incident and would “continue to assist local authorities as requested”.

“Our focus remains on (the girl) and her family. We have turned to the family to offer them our support and resources during this difficult time and we will continue to pray for their recovery,” the chiefs said.

The shock

The three-vehicle crash occurred Thursday night when Kansas City, Missouri, police reported that a Chevrolet Impala was disabled on the Interstate 435 ramp and the driver called relatives for help. . When family members arrived and parked their Chevrolet Traverse near the disabled car, a Dodge Ram truck, allegedly driven by Reid, attacked the two vehicles.

A 4- and 5-year-old boy from Traverse was taken to a local hospital with a 5-year-old boy who suffered fatal injuries, police said.

A GoFundMe was created by Tiffany Verhulst, the aunt of the 5-year-old girl, on behalf of her mother.

Drivers of the Impala and Traverse were not injured, police said.

According to the police incident report, the driver of the Dodge Ram, identified by police as Reid, is being investigated for deterioration. Reid suffered injuries in the crash that required surgery, his father said earlier.

Reid told an officer he responded that he had consumed “two to three” drinks after the officer noticed a smell of alcohol “emanating” from Reid, as well as “blood and red” eyes. Reid also told police he is taking the prescription drug Adderall, according to a search warrant first obtained by CNS-affiliated KSHB.

The officer performed a sobriety test on the ground and observed signs of deterioration, according to the order. Reid was taken to a local hospital after complaining of stomach ache.

Reid has not been charged with any crime.
