As the situation evolves, some of the evacuation orders have been downgraded to 214,112-acre gunpowder, which now stands at 43%, according to Cal Fire. Containment increased by 11 percentage points over the previous day. The fire is expected to be completely contained by Sept. 27, the agency said Sunday.
The Caldor fire is just one of the massive fires that have erupted across the American West this summer due to a severe drought in the region.

Meanwhile, a firefighter destined to fight the massive Dixie fire has died due to an illness, the agency said.
The Dixie fire has been burning in northern California for more than a month and a half. As of Sunday morning, the fire had approximately 894,000 acres and 56% was contained. Earlier, the agency reported three first responders who fought the fire of injuries, but did not report any civilian casualties or injuries.
There are 3,820 troops assigned to this incident, which is burning in five counties and has grown to become the second largest fire in California history.
