The Audi RS6 Avant is the long roof of dreams and is a new, hot, very opportunistic car they are already spinning to win quickly. Take advantage of the sales history of some of the low mile examples now available, and you’ll learn something amazing – not just lone wolf predators play in the market. Canadian dealers are also involved in the unexpected game.

It is not uncommon for fins to be in the case. The RS6 Avant, a highway storm and occasional track toy, packs a 591-horsepower V8, quattro all-wheel drive and Audi technology in a package that increases heart rate just by looking at it.

How Road and track found out, Canadian dealers were among the first to acquire shares of the RS6 wagon. Some of these dealers decided to launch them at auctions. These wagons, now technically used cars, were shipped across the border to U.S. dealerships. The practice seems pretty clever: Canadian dealers made their profits without haggling any customers.

To check Cars.com for used RS6 Ahead and you will see many ads for more than stickers. Some of these cars are so few miles away that one would think their owners took them home and put them up for sale immediately. But CarFax checks will reveal that many of these cars were first registered in Canada before ending up at a U.S. dealership. Take this beautiful example for sale in Wisconsin:

Your CarFax indicates two previous owners in Ontario despite having only 154 miles on the odometer.

Be aware that buying a recent vehicle from Canada can cause headaches. While these are the same cars you can buy here, they sometimes have VINs that don’t show up on a DMV system. Some dealers will not even touch cars coming from Canada, Car and driver reports.

While the revulsive RS6 Forwards from Canadian dealers probably made sense at launch, it doesn’t now. Check the button New box at Cars.com and you’ll find more new cars on the sticker than used ones. So there really is no reason to buy a low-mile RS6 Avant, but still technically used, which had two or three previous owners.
