With Fox’s Prodigal Son returning for its second season premiere on January 12, the show will get a new addition to the cast later this season.
Catherine Zeta-Jones has signed the regular role of Dr. Vivian Capshaw’s series, according to a Fox press release.
The 51-year-old actress will work alongside Michael Sheen, who also comes from her native Wales, debuting in the “second half of the season”.

The second season will see Sheen doctor Martin Whitly assigned to the infirmary, where he meets Capshaw.
Capshaw, “delights in the task” The surgeon “to clean the beds and scrub the floor,” according to the official description.
Surprisingly, Capshaw sees Whitley becoming “valuable in treating patients,” as he begins to do, in “seeing him in a new light … which is not good.”

Prodigal Son will return for a second season on a new night on Tuesday, January 12 at 9pm ET on Fox.

The show was the new No. 1 series to debut last fall, with an average of 9.3 million cross-platform viewers.
The show follows Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne), a criminal profiler with a rare talent for getting into the minds of murderers.
He knew how they thought because his father, Martin Whitly, was a famous serial killer known as “The Surgeon.”
