Charlyne Yi says she tried to break the contract and stop filming Disaster artist when he learned of the allegations against the co-star and director James Franco. Instead of listening to her concerns, she says the producers of the 2017 film tried to bribe her with a bigger acting role.
Yi made these allegations in one Instagram post on Friday, implicating Seth Rogen, the film’s producer, in the scheme to bribe her as well.
“I cried and told them … I didn’t feel safe working with a sexual predatory shit,” Yi wrote. “They kept it to a minimum and said that Franco’s predation was so last [year] and that changed … when I literally felt like I was abusing new women that week. ”
Rogen, Yi said in the attached headline, “definitely knows about bribery and why I quit smoking.”

The bulk of the allegations against Franco came out in early 2018, when five women he accused him of sexual misconduct for incidents that took place at his home already defunct acting school.
But even before Yi fired Disaster artist with Franco, they had long murmured about the actor’s history of inappropriate sexual behavior, resulting from a 2014 incident in which Franco sent a message to a 17-year-old to ask him to find him in his hotel room. Franco later admitted that he hit the teenager and said:bad judgment“In a TV interview:‘ In my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but sometimes it’s published for the world, ”Franco said at the time.
A few weeks later, Rogen performed one SNL sketch mocking Franco for what he framed as a “shameful” mistake, rather than as a predatory thing. “I decided to make fun of James Franco,” Rogen told the show. “I became a girl on Instagram and told her I was very young. He seemed fearless. I have an appointment to meet him at the Ace Hotel ”.
Yi said she now chose to share her experience because April is sexual assault awareness month; Subsequent posts on his Instagram channel discuss consent, trauma, and gastronomic enlightenment and bring Rogen to work as a “facilitator” of sexual harassment and abuse.
“Predators will empathize, be gaseous, and say they will do better, all to protect themselves and continue to harm others,” Yi wrote. “Facilitators are just as toxic and they mistreat them as well.”
