Disney made some major changes to its summer film on Tuesday.

The studio announced that “Cruella” and “Black Widow” will be released in theaters and Disney + with main access and their Pixar film “Luca” will go directly to Disney +.

“Today’s announcement reflects our focus on offering choices to the consumer and serving the evolving preferences of the audience,” said Kareem Daniel, president of Disney’s media and entertainment distribution.

“Leveraging a flexible distribution strategy in a dynamic market that is beginning to recover from the global pandemic, we will continue to use the best options to deliver The Walt Disney Company’s unparalleled storytelling to fans and families around the world,” he said.

By changing its launch strategy, “Cruella” will debut as planned on May 28 and “Black Widow”, initially set for May 7, will now be released on July 9. Both titles will also be available at Disney + for an additional $ 30 rental supplement.

“Luca,” which was initially slated to hit theaters, will air live on Disney + as part of the traditional subscription. In markets where Disney + is not available, “Luca” will be released in theaters.
