A nearly 20-acre private island in the Bahamas has just gone on sale for $ 35 million and appears to belong to country music stars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
Called L’île d’Anges, the gentle refuge was the subject of an Architectural Digest cover profile in 2017. The couple bought the island in 2003, but apparently did not move until 2012. In the story, they admit that turning the spread into a private residence required more work than they thought.
“We set out to build a house,” Hill said in the post. “We had no idea we had to build everything else. Basically we had to build a small town ”.
This included staff accommodation, infrastructure for construction equipment, water and electricity.
“At first you don’t just put it all together,” McGraw said.
Thus, over the course of a decade, the family, including the couple’s three daughters, remained in yurts by the sea while the permanent house was being built.
“It was like camping,” Hill told AD. “The kids loved it!”
The two yurts are advertised on the list, marketed by Knight Frank, who adds that “they were initially built as temporary accommodation.” The AD story also mentions that the house is a collection of eight “pavilions,” which on the list are described as “pods” that are connected by nearly 5,000 square feet of covered porches and hallways.
Knight Frank did not want to comment on this story. It is unclear whether the couple still owns the property, but a luxury real estate brokerage in the Bahamas (in a publication published in 2020) lists the island as theirs. The island does not appear to have sold for years since Hill and McGraw bought it.
McGraw and Hill’s representatives did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
Also known as Goat Cay, L’île d’Anges has over a mile of waterfront. The main house is located on a high point in the center of the island and has an area of 6,517 square meters. There is a large room to entertain the family and guests, and the lounge opens onto the pool terrace. Images in the listing also show an open kitchen and dining area, private beaches and a pier.
The listing adds that there are four bedrooms, five bathrooms and, at the northern end of the island, about 6,000 square feet of secondary housing needed to run the property. They include three staff houses, engineering facilities and mechanical storage.
Île d’Anges is 80 minutes from Miami, according to the list.
