Cyndi Lauper said goodbye to 2020 in the most appropriate way: offering a shocking performance on live television.
The 67-year-old pop star performed “True Colors” and “Hope” on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin ‘Eve With Ryan Seacrest” on ABC Thursday night.
After joining Seacrest, Billy Porter and Lucy Hale for “True Colors”, Lauper’s glamorous team tried to tweak it, causing the singer to shout, “I’m on camera! I’m on camera! ”
The chaotic performance was reminiscent of the disastrous New Year’s Eve 2016 screening, fellow diva Mariah Carey, during which she was unable to hear her own song, ultimately surrendered and stopped at the ‘stage with his mouth closed and his hand on his hip.
“Well, happy new year. We can’t hear it, but I’ll just pass the motions, “he whispered, adding later,” I’m trying to be a good sport here. “
Lauper premiered “Hope” during the initial coronavirus blockade in March. But even that, apparently, wasn’t enough to make the right notes. On stage, she jumped as she tried to sing in tune.
Twitter quickly called for less-than-ideal performance, and many called for the stylists ’awkward moment.
