Save transfers they have been a disaster on PS5. Time and time again, people have wanted to play updated versions of their old PS4 games only to discover that they can’t import the previous save files without placing the console on a dark altar and performing arcane rituals. Ghost of Tsushima: director’s cut fix that.

The PS5 version of the game has a solution to import saved PS4 directly into the start menu. Select the “Transfer PS4 Console Transfer” option and the game will immediately locate the files locally or via a USB connection and make them available to play the updated game. Praise the Lord! And also developer Sucker Punch.

Why is it such a big deal? You may remember when The Marvel Avengers The PS5 version came out what a headache it was for players to provide their old saved data. They couldn’t just transfer it, pick it up and leave. They had to open the data in the PS4 version of The Marvel Avengers and migrate it manually from there.

It was a nuisance, especially since a lot of people had already deleted this version of the game, forcing them to wait while it was being re-downloaded before starting to play. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade he had the same problems, proving that Microsoft he was right to rejoice after all about their “smart delivery” service that sounds like “buzz word-y”.

In accordance with Digital casting, the new easiest-to-use transfer feature in Ghost of Tsushima is the result of an update to Sony’s SDK (software development kit) that makes it possible for the PS5 to automatically read PS4 saving data. This means that other multi-generation PS5 games should also get an easier option to transfer savings. EA has recently released the PS5 update for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order he also has one.

It would have been nice if the PS5 had launched with this solution, but hey, better late than never, especially since most people who want a new PlayStation still can’t get any. Perhaps when they finally do, Sony will have figured out how to automatically transfer savings directly from the cloud.
