Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that she gained 14 pounds after she stopped having restrictions on her diet during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 48-year-old actress attributed her weight gain to the wine, pasta, cheese and crackers she ate to “spend” the first nine months of the pandemic.
“I had no absolute restrictions,” Gwyneth said during this weekend’s virtual event In Goop Health – The At Home Summit, according to E !. I gained 14 pounds and my gut was a mess.

But I really didn’t want to do anything about it. I felt like my wine, my pastries, cookies, crackers, and cheese were passing me by.
Now Gwyneth is approaching her original pre-pandemic weight, after consulting with functional medicine doctor Dr. Will Cole, who placed her on his ‘intuitive fasting’ plan, which includes a week of bone broth.
The new food program worked and Gwyneth has now lost 11 pounds.
“You started cleaning my bone broth,” he told her during an appearance on his podcast, The Art of Be Well, in February. “What was incredible.” [and] hard, but that process of letting my digestive system rest and the lining start to heal a little over the first six days, I felt like I could never have found or started to hear that intuitive voice about what I wanted to eat or not to eat if I hadn’t done something drastic to do this reset.

Call: Now Gwyneth is approaching her original pre-pandemic weight, after consulting with Dr. Will Cole, a functional medicine practitioner, who placed her on her intuitive fasting plan, which includes a week of broth of bones.
“Because I think facing a lot of business and it’s all about food and it’s nonsensical food and everything,” he said. “And then when you don’t digest well, it’s affecting all sorts of things.”
Gwyneth also turned to Cole after battling the long-term effects of the virus, which she contracted early in the pandemic.
“After seeing all my labs,” he said, “he explained that it was a case where the road to healing would be longer than usual.”
He started it in a program that includes refraining from consuming sugar or alcohol, exercising, and adding supplements like butyrate, fish oil, B vitamins, vitamin D3, vitamin C, zinc, and selenium.

“Everything I’m doing feels good, like a gift for my body,” he said. “I have energy, I’m working out in the mornings and doing an infrared sauna all I can, all in the service of healing.”
He said that as a result of the debilitating battle, “clean-up” adjustments were made. [her] diet “and” exercise, and even thought patterns … left [her] feeling energized, healthier and, believe it or not, wanting more.
In addition to the supplements, Gwyneth said hiking has been a beneficial form of exercise for her.
