South to southwest is currently (practically) underway, and in the midst of all the film’s releases – stay tuned to io9 for upcoming reviews – came this bit of news: a horror short made during quarantine just picked up by the director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Hardcore Harry) to obtain the treatment of the feature film.

Here comes this news deadline; the short, Don’t look, is based on Animal Crossing, as well as the notorious notion of terror that things are much scarier when they happen while you’re alone in the dark. Creator Julian Terry made the short last year and can still be seen on YouTube following his SXSW bow. Celebrate your eyes!

SXSW continues until March 20th.
