With iOS 15, Apple tried to revamp the traditional Safari user interface. Somehow, it was an ambitious endeavor, such as how the user interface changes color to match the website you’re browsing. However, the company’s decision to move the search bar to the bottom of the screen was not so well received. Apple added the option to move the bar back to the top if you’re one of those who can’t (or don’t want to) get used to the new design, but it’s not obvious how to change it.
Why is the new search bar position a challenge?
We’re used to the search bar being at the top of the screen forever, both on the iPhone and in almost every existing browser. Moving it to the bottom of the screen really leaves you out; I’ve been using the beta all summer and I’m not used to it yet.
In theory, it should be an improvement; the bottom of the screen is much easier to access with one hand, especially on larger iPhones, and you can even use it to quickly switch between tabs as you switch apps. From a design perspective, which makes sense.
The problem is that many of us are really connected at this point to wait for the search bar at the top, and that there is no recycling that prevents us from trying to tap the top of the screen to start another web search, before remembering, “Oh, sure, it’s at the bottom now.”

Apple seems to know that its initial approach would not fly. With iOS 15 beta 6, the company not only redesigned Safari, but also added an option to return the search bar to the top of the screen. However, it is not clear from the outset that this option is here. Safari will not notify you of any information and you will not find it anywhere in the app itself.
How the search bar moves to the top of the screen
Open Settings> Safariand scroll down to Tabs. To move the search bar up at the top of the page, tap “Unique tab”(The tab bar will be selected by default). Now, when you get back to Safari, you’ll find the search bar at the top of your browser, just like the gods of the Internet wanted.
