So you grabbed a new one PlayStation 5, Xbox X Series, o Xbox S Series, and now you you may be wondering how you can share all your game management with the world at large. After all, if you play a game and no one else can see it, did it even happen? Game streaming is no longer the hobby of the previous niche, and next-generation consoles have some features in this area. We will show you how to get started.

PlayStation 5

The Sony console is the best bet when it comes to integrated transmission options. It supports the two major platforms, Twitch and YouTube, out of the box. This means there are no additional apps to install, although of course you will need a Twitch or YouTube account if you want to broadcast on these platforms.

Start the game you want to play, then tap the button To create of the DualSense controller (this is just above and to the right of the D-pad). Select the file Issue (second from right) and you will be invited to choose any Twitch or YouTube from the pop-up menu.

To pick up Twitchand then you have to select Link the account and visit this page in a web browser on another device. Log in with your Twitch credentials, enter the code shown on the PS5, and you should be logged in. Assign a title to your broadcast, select Go live, and you will be playing your game in the world on your Twitch page.

Select the three dots next to Go Live and you can define various options for the broadcast, such as tTwitch’s overlay position, for example, the quality of the video and whether or not it includes voice chat audio. To stop or pause the broadcast, return to Issue after playing To create.

If you choose YouTube as a streaming platform, you’ll be directed to a rather puzzling webpage on your PS5, where you can sign in with your Google credentials. After you go through this process, starting a feed and editing the feed options are more or less the same as with Twitch (get a few additional YouTube-specific settings, such as whether the feed should be public or private).

Xbox X / S Series

Real-time playback from the Xbox X and Xbox Series S is a bit more limited compared to the PlayStation 5; at the time of writing, only Twitch supports an application and a streaming platform and is not preinstalled on the console. However, if you’re happy to use Twitch as your streaming service, it’s hard to set it up.

Open the store interface on your Xbox, then search for the free version Twitch application Once downloaded and installed, go to Sign in option at the top. Then it will have to open this page in a web browser on another device, sign in to Twitch and enter the code that your Microsoft console displays on the screen (if you don’t already have a Twitch account, this may be a good time to create one).

You should then be up and running, with the Twitch home page open on the screen. Open the file Issue to define next flow options: Enter a title … box is the most important, otherwise the defaults will work fine for your first stream. You can adjust video quality, game volume, and broadcast bar position, which is the overlay of information at the top of your game stream that only you can see.

Select Start real-time playback, choose your game from the Xbox menu and no more. Tthe stream will appear on your Twitch profile for anyone who wants to tune in and the URL will be displayed in the Twitch app, if you’re not sure what it is. To stop playback after a game session, return to the Twitch app and choose Stop the flow.

There is no YouTube option here either any other transmission service from the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S – at least for now. If Twitch doesn’t suit you for any reason, the only method you can adopt is a complete capture card and PC setup, which is also something to keep in mind for the PS5.

The capture card option

If you’re just starting to stream the game, you’ll almost definitely just want to sign in to Twitch or YouTube and get started – it’s easy, free, and you can stream your games to the world in minutes.

Those of you who are willing to take the next step will want to know about the capture card option. A dedicated capture card takes the output of your next-generation console and drives it to the computer, where you can record and transmit it, adding the necessary extras and flowers along the way.

There are some capture devices to choose from Elgato HD60 S to the Razer Ripsaw HD, but will have to pay at least $ 100 to $ 200. Some of these devices are external boxes, while others are real cards that connect to a spare slot on the computer motherboard. Mmake sure you get one that broadcasts in 4K, or at least can go through 4K, if that’s the resolution you want.

You will then need software to send the incoming video to a streaming platform (free) OBS Studio it’s almost the best choice for most, and having a PC powerful enough to handle it video streaming is also essential. You can use OBS Studio to broadcast on Twitch, YouTube, and even Facebook.

This is obviously much more involved and expensive than just opening the Twitch app on the console, but you get a lot more control and flexibility. If you have the hardware budget, the software side isn’t really too complicated and it will take you a few hours at most to learn all the strings. The only challenge is finding someone who really wants to see you play, but there you are alone.
