How to try the Windows 10 21H1 update before and get ready for the 21H2

Want to try the latest major feature update for Windows 10? If you don’t mind living on the wild side with a beta version, something is yours I could i don’t want to risk it Yes Windows applications they are essential for you to be able to do your job and / or function in real life; it’s easy to access Windows 10 21H1 early.

Before you begin, do so a backup of your system just in case. It’s your call if that means it cloning the entire hard drive or copy critical files to cloud or external storage. Even if you decide to keep your data, be sure to do something; yyou never know when it might trigger a beta version of Windows 10 unforeseen issues. (Jot happens with regular Windows updates, so …)

JoIf you are afraid that a beta version may break some very important applications that you use regularly, considering avoiding beta completely or make a complete disk clone so that you can quickly and easily restore it to your stable operating system in case disaster waves. Next time you run Windows Update, it should see the special text box for Windows 10 21H1. The updated operating system will not be installed automatically (for now); you will need to start the download and install it yourself.

You can click the “See what’s in this update” link if you want, but from this writing, they won’t actually direct you to a site that shows you what’s new in Windows 10 21H1. To save you a web search, here is the file small list of functions You’ll get a lot of bugs and security fixes:

  • Windows Hello Multi-Camera Support, to set the default camera as an external camera when there are external and internal Windows Hello cameras.
  • Windows Defender Application Guard performance enhancements, including optimization of document opening scenario schedules.
  • Windows Management Instrumentation Group (WMI) Policy Service performance improvement update to support remote work scenarios.

The Windows update it actually contains introduces you they probably care about (and they will use) is Windows 10 21H2, expected to arrive sometime this fall. This is a bit annoying if we were looking for, say, play with a new float Start menu, but the odds are good that now that you are Windows Insider will be able to get a beta version of the operating system before its official release. WWhile Windows 10 21H1 may not excite you, at least you already are they are familiar with the process and are subscribed to the beta channel for everyone future (more exciting) updates.

Yes if you want to leave the beta track for whatever reason, just revisit the Windows Insider program screen in the Windows Update settings and select the option to Stop getting preview versions. Consider changing yours channel a Previous version. This won’t help you recover the beta you are currently in, but it will keep you with a much more stable version of the operating system (if that’s your problem) once it’s ready.
