IKEA’s Tiny House comes pre-built

Imagine the instructions.

IKEA is now working on the manufacture of small houses. And luckily for millennial furniture owners unleashed from everywhere, you won’t need this disposable Allen key. It is already built.

The Swedish furniture company is experimenting with prefabricated homes through its Ikea Tiny Home Project, selling 187-square-foot homes on platform trailers.

The little house effort is a partnership with Vox Creative and builder RV Escape.

Currently, the only model available is the IKEA version of Escape’s Boho XL Wide model, which starts at $ 47,550. That’s about 368 POÄNG chairs for everyone who counts.

Features of the IKEA version, which ensures neutral tones, sustainability and a certain hygienic touch, include kitchen cabinets made from recycled plastic bottles, built-in furniture and a folding desk, according to Lonely Planet. The XL has space for a large bed, as well as living rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom, according to Escape’s promotional video.

A virtual tour shows the window-clad space furnished with wardrobes and IKEA products.

“As I started, I really listed all the needs of the space,” Abbey Stark, IKEA’s interior design leader, said in a promotional video. “How, how is it designed around a wheel well and the mechanics of the home? I wanted to obtain renewable, reusable and recycled materials when possible to make the space functional and beautiful ”.

Small houses are in vogue among environmentally conscious minimalist types and have even managed to stay in fashion through the pandemic, when the last thing anyone wants is a smaller space.

But with perks such as a tow bed, a compostable toilet, and solar panels, the small IKEA home has the appeal of working from anywhere many have sought during the pandemic.
