Shepherds don’t belong on pedestals, or so Justin Bieber says.
In an interview with GQ, the pop superstar talked about how she feels when shepherds unleash fame on their bosses.
“I think so many pastors put themselves on that pedestal,” the 27-year-old devout singer-songwriter told the publication without making direct reference to Carl Lentz, the unfortunate former pastor of Hillsong Megasturch that Bieber counted among his best friends. Singer “Baby” makes no reference to Hillsong or Lentz in the GQ interview, but rather spoke at length about the role pastors play in a church.
“[It’s] basically, the church can be surrounded by the man, the pastor, the boy, and it’s like, “This boy has this ultimate relationship with God that we all want, but we can’t get because we’re not that boy,” Bieber said. “It simply came to our notice then. The reality is that every human being has the same access to God.
Neither Justin Bieber nor Hillsong returned The Post’s request for comment.
Although Bieber criticized pastors, he praised Pastor Judah Smith, who runs the famous Churchome.
“He put our relationship first,” Bieber said of Smith, and he promoted Smith’s close ties to his own family.
“It was something I always dreamed of because my family was broken,” Bieber said. “All my life, I had a broken family. And, therefore, I was only attracted to a family that eats dinners together, laughs together, talks together ”.
Bieber, who released her new LP “Justice” last month, also revealed that her marriage to model Hailey Baldwin, 24, had a rocky start.
“The first year of marriage was very hard,” he said, “because there were a lot of things that went back to the topic of trauma.” It just lacked confidence. There were all these things you don’t want to admit to the person you’re with, because it’s scary. You don’t want to scare them by saying, “I’m scared”. ”
The Canadian-born composer also opened to hit rock bottom five years ago.
“There was the feeling of wanting even more,” he said, admitting that his security guards were so concerned about his well-being that they sneaked into his room to check his pulse and make sure he was alive.
“It was like I had all this success and kept going: I’m sad and I’m in pain,” he said. “And I still have these problems unresolved. And I thought all success would do everything right. And so for me, drugs were a dormant agent to keep transmitting them. “
