Kansas City Chiefs place Demarcus Robinson and Daniel Kilgore on reserve / COVID-19 list

Kansas City officials have placed wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and safety center Daniel Kilgore on the / COVID-19 reserve list due to close contact.

The moves on the list mark the first coronavirus-related problems ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl.

As close contacts, Robinson and Kilgore could play in the Super Bowl LV against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if they have five consecutive days of negative testing.

“The NFL has done a great job with that, presenting different security things to keep the players as safe as possible,” head coach Andy Reid said Monday. “We’ve been getting this point home forever. The problem is you’re fighting the invisible man. He gets you when least expected and we’re seeing it in everything. It’s unfortunate.”

Robinson, 26, had 45 runs throughout the run for 466 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Kilgore, 33, appeared in seven games (including four starters) this season, the first with the Chiefs. The ten-year veteran is listed as the Kansas City security center behind Austin Reiter.

“These guys were as safe as they could be,” Reid said, “and we’ll just see how it goes. But the league has rules and regulations built in, so we follow them and everything will work. Everything will work for them when it’s said and done.”
