A lead-footed driver, whose car has gotten more than 90 speeding tickets near schools in the city and who usually did not stop at red traffic lights, was arrested in the test that killed a 3-month-old girl in Brooklyn, police said.
Tyrik Mott, 28, was arrested shortly after the wrong crash that left the baby dead and injured three more people around 6pm on Saturday in Clinton Hill, police said. According to authorities, he was captured after fleeing the scene on foot and attempting to steal another driver’s car.
Mott was allegedly driving a 2017 dark silver Honda Civic in the wrong direction on Gates Avenue when it collided with a 2020 black Honda Civic operated by a 49-year-old woman on Vanderbilt Avenue, police said.
The 2017 Honda, which had Pennsylvania plates, had been captured by automated speed cameras zooming in front of Big Apple schools at least 10 mph above the speed limit 91 times since the fall of 2017, according to records from the city.

The driver of the vehicle suffered speeding in school zones 35 times surprisingly in 2021 alone, even for seven offenses since the summer began, according to records.
The car has also been captured with red lights 14 times since 2017, and on five occasions in recent months, the data is shown.
On Saturday, a 33-year-old woman, a 36-year-old pedestrian and a 3-month-old girl, who was in a pram, were hit by vehicles, police said. The baby flew 15 to 20 feet in the air, a witness told The Post. Victim IDs have not been released.

Mott then allegedly took off on foot and attempted to steal the Hyundai 2020 from a 41-year-old driver, police said. Shortly afterwards he was arrested and charged with attempted robbery, attempted theft, resisting arrest and obstruction of government administration, officials reported.
“When this guy fled the scene initially, he tried to steal another vehicle to evade police,” a police spokesman said.
The critically injured baby was taken to Brooklyn Hospital but could not be rescued. Her mother was taken to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and appeared in serious condition.
