Missouri woman’s wife Josh Hawley files a criminal complaint in protest in front of the couple’s home

(KY3) – Erin Hawley, the wife of Missouri U.S. Senator Josh Hawley, has filed a criminal complaint against an organizer of a protest outside the couple’s home in Virginia last month, according to reports ABC News.

According to ABC News, the individual has been charged with a felony of unlawful demonstration, but not charged with committing threats or acts of vandalism, as alleged in the criminal complaint.

Hawley’s office told ABC News that the complaint was filed in a Fairfax County, Virginia court. Under Virginia state law, any citizen can file a criminal complaint and request a subpoena, although a local magistrate must find enough “probable cause” to issue it.

Hawley was the first U.S. senator to announce his intention to challenge the election results certified by the Electoral College. On the night of January 6, he opposed the election results in Arizona and Pennsylvania, a challenge that continued after a riot at the U.S. Capitol as Congress worked to certify the votes.

While objections did not change the results of the two states, they delayed certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.

Senator Hawley recently discussed the Capitol Revolt and other issues in an individual interview with KY3 News.
